Observations and Conclusions:
Andersonville, or Camp Sumter as it was officially known, was one of the largest of many confederate military prisons established during the Civil War. It was built in 1864. During the 14 months the prison existed, more than 45,000 Union soldiers were confined here. Of these, almost 13,000 died from disease, poor sanitation, malnutrition, over crowding, or exposure to the elements. The Ghost Trackers having visited Andersonville during the day light hours on several occasions arrived as the park was ending its business day with much anticipation of the night's activities. With such a vast amount of an area to cover to include the cemetery, prison site, infirmary site, deadlines, Providence Spring and graves of the raiders. BBGT members and guest divided into groups of 3 and each group going to they're chosen area with walkie-talkies and flashlights in hand. Joining us for the night's investigation was film producer and screen writer George Fernandez working on a pilot for a potential TV show. Mr. Fernandez joined each group with cameras in hand filming each group periodically as the nights events unfolded. When the moon rose high in the night sky and clouds briefly covering it, I must say to really appreciate the ambiance of this incredible site this was a remarkable setting. Intense feelings of sadness and sickness engulfed us. The cries and pleas for mercy and help hung heavy in the atmosphere. In the cemetery area a young soldier named Owen came through during a state of mediation by one of the group's psychic investigators. Later the gravestone was discovered in the same area. Group member Valynda experienced the feeling of being shot in the leg not far from a deadline area. Guest Larry assisting with Civil War area audio music and manning a video camera experienced the sounds of footsteps behind him and the sensation of coldness and the hair standing up on the back of his neck quiet unnerving him. Guest Rob and gr oup member Jamey experienced tense feelings in the area where the unfortunate captured Union soldiers entered and got their first glimpse of prison life. Getting spikes on the EMF meters in this area. BBGT member Mike being an officer in the US Air Force decided to bark orders in attempt to get a response from ghostly prisoners stuck in this earthly realm, after this activity did appear to increase. BBGT members Ron, Scott and Lacey went about snapping pictures as they roamed from one area to another taking in all the residual emotions still lingering. As the clock was approaching 10 p.m. the group decided to come together inside the old prison walls near the entrance. One can only imagine the emotional energy that was expelled at this site. We all felt these energies and all the emotions that went with them. When the nights investigation ended. We all walked away with reverence, understanding and appreciation of the Union Soldier.
