Everyone that spends more then a few days in Marianna hears tales about The Ghost of Bellamy Bridge. The ghost is of a young bride that died tragically in a fire. While dancing with her new husband Samuel at their wedding reception on May 11th, 1837, she was 18 years of age, and caught up in the music of the beautiful waltz, on the dance floor, Elizabeth brushed up against one of the candelabras. She sadly died a few hours later in the arms of her beloved Sam. Although the bridge itself did not hold anything significant to Elizabeth; the immediate area around the bridge is her and Sam's "special place". This is the site where Sam proposed, and where they spent many hours planning and dreaming about their future together. This is the place in death that she has chosen to return to. Though the years she has been seen by "ghost hunters", locals fishing under the bridge, and other young couples using the serene out of the way place for a lover's lane. Is she looking for her beloved Sam? Is she headed for the water to put out the flames? No one knows, but those who have seen her will never forget the experience. ***Samuel Bellamy never remarried and died at his own hand December 31, 1853***
