The Coombs Villas
5th. Street
Apalachicola, Fl
The Villa's was built 1903; originally the Marks Family homestead, now serving as the annex bed and breakfast for the Haunted Coombs Inn, This lovely two story home severed as the home to native Floridians the Marks for many years, several family members were born in this home and several died and were waked in it as well.
The Ghost Trackers arrived at the home at the request of the current owners after guests begin reporting a variety of haunted goings on in the old home. After a tour of the home, baseline data collected and equipment put in place the nights investigation begin.
In room 17 where guests frequently report the sound of a ball bouncing above them in the attic room seems to be the root of the haunting. It is believed the Marks family lost a young son possibly named Cory in the 1920's after a fall in an unfinished stairwell. Although this claim can not be completely substantiated it was relayed to us by a now elderly gentleman whom has lived in Apalachicola all his life.
9:00 Investigators arrived on locations an be taking baseline data.
9:14 walking pass Room 11 a presence was felt along with a peculiar smell of unknown origin.
9:15 – The very much identifiable smell of cedar was noted near room 12.
9:29 – At room 12 a female entity named Emily communicated psychically at the same time heaviness/pains in the chest was experienced by the investigator.
9:56– room 17 the notebook sitting on investigator Lisa’s lap was literally pulled off her lap onto the floor.
10:30- A sudden chilliness in the air was noted and a scan with a thermal scanner depicted a drop in temperature of 10 degrees from when the baseline data was taken 2 hours earlier. No logical reason could be determined or explained for the sudden drop.
12:15 just as the investigators decided to take a short break a motion detector placed in room 19 which was unoccupied sounded. When checked footsteps by an unseen person was heard walking away.
At 1:00 a.m. the distinctive impression of a child seemed to be a mist. A sudden drop in temperature of 12 degrees at the same time an EMF meter alerted us that we were not alone.
We then continued our investigation in the main house on 6th street.
We would like to thank Bill Spohrer and Lynn Wilson for having us in their lovely Inn and their great hospitality.
