Lafayette Park is located on the waterfront in the Historic District. It is located across the street from the Key Home.  In bygone days the park was the hub of social activities. A gazebo was located in the middle of the park (now replaced with a new modern structure). Weekend band concerts, picnics, family reunions, birthday parties, political rallies, weddings , etc. were all conducted at the park. At night residents walking pass the park, teenagers using it as a lover's lane, and kids bored during the lazy hot days of summer often sought refuge of the breeze coming off the bay would choose to camp overnight at the park. (Although most never made it through the night). These residents often reported seeing unexplained shadows, shapes and sounds.
