McLauchlin House
Havana, Florida
The McLauchlin house in historic Havana was actually moved in the late 1980s or early 1990s from Fowlstown, Georgia. Big Bend Ghost Trackers was invited to spend an evening with the current occupants, both the living ones and those who have passed on.
The current tenants have reported strange smells, indeed one person reported an encounter, when moving in, with a tall, thin man who stood in a hallway and, as she looked at him, asked something to the effect of "What do you think of the smell of this place?", before vanishing.
It was an evening of revelation. Connie spent the evening conversing with a spirit who identified himself as "Joseph W.", and who dropped names to her as if describing his own family. By evening's end, the place had taken on the air of a small festival, with a small crowd of relatives and friends outside, and it suddenly became clear to us that "Joseph" was dropping the names of people with connections to the current tenants, as if he had adopted them as his own!! Every name we came out to ask about was met with exclamations of "Oh, that's my cousin...", or granddaughter, etc., right down to a small dog named Brownie.
One of the highlights of the evening, however, was an orb shooting across the camera, leaving a contrail, and bringing gasps of delight from the Ghost Trackers and onlookers alike!
