Sigma Chi House
College Avenue ( FSU Campus)
Tallahassee, Florida
Often people wonder what happens to the ghosts that haunts a particular house when the house is torn down. This story is about what happen to one particular ghost girl. Sallie was a young teen age servant girl who lived and worked in a house on what is now known as College Avenue during the early part of the last century, on the land where the Sigma Chi House now stands.
One night a man broke into the house and raped Sallie. In a struggle Sallie and her attacker both died. Some years later Sallie's old home was torn down. A new home was built on the property, this home later was to become a frat house. Sallie began to make frequent appearances to the fraternity brothers. One bedroom in the frat house often has the odor of a coal bin, another room like a canning pantry. During an investigation by a psychic it is reported that he briefly made contact with Sally and where these particular rooms are located were the location of the coal bin room and a summer kitchen in the old home. It is believed that Sallie stabbed her attacker with a knife in the kitchen and ran to hide in the coal bin where her attacker found her and strangled her. The attacker consequently bleed to death from his wounds. Frat House members still report seeing Sallie's apparition from time to time but more often sense her presence.
