USS ALABAMA BATTLESHIP
Haunted or Not?

Big Bend Ghost Trackers arrived at this historical old battleship as the evening sun was rapidly setting in the west. After hearing numerous accounts of ghostly soldiers
aboard we knew we had to check it her for ourselves.

The ghost of a young blond haired sailor has been said to frequent the officer quarters. A ghostly sailor mess cooks in the mess hall. Banging noises and footsteps by unseen persons have reportedly been witnessed by visitors aboard her.

Built in 1942; historically she did see an abundance of action during WWII. In 1943 she was stationed in the North Atlantic to guard against the threat of raids by German heavy ships. Alabama was transferred to the Pacific in August 1943. During November of that year, she took part in the operation to capture the Gilbert Islands. In 1944, Alabama participated in taking the Marshall's, the Mariana's and Leyte, the Battles of the Philippine Sea and Leyte Gulf, and raids on Japanese positions elsewhere in the Pacific.

She took part in the occupation of Japan and the return of veterans to the United States in August-October 1945. She was decommissioned in January 1947 then in 1962 she was turned over to the State of Alabama. Since September 1964, Alabama has been berthed at Mobile, Alabama, as a memorial to those who served and sacrificed during World War II.

Using dowsing rods, EMF meter, a psychic investigator, infrared video cameras as well as digital cameras BBGT was unable to establish any connection to the “other side” other then one odd experience in the overnight guests bunk area. A cool breeze seem to come out of no where and one unusual photo was captured  out of one group of 3 taken in session,  perhaps not showing paranormal activity rather some other photo oddity.

So the question? IS SHE HAUNTED? After interviewing her staff some day and one night staff they themselves report having never encountered any unworldly or any sort of paranormal activity. Old ships like old homes do make there share of noises that can be explained away I.e. pipes, brisk wind, doors that creak. SO IS SHE HAUNTED ? Perhaps not…….or perhaps maybe she only experiences residual haunting's on the anniversary dates she was involved in major action.
