John Denham Bed & Breakfast
Monticello, Florida
USA TODAY in 2003 named John Denham as one of the top 10 most "haunted" B&B's in the United States.
This expansive home was built by John Denham a sea faring merchant in 1873. The homes architectural design is typical of post Civil War southern estates. The Ghost Trackers arrived at 7 p.m. and begin taking base line data noting drops in temperature in a down stairs parlor and also an up stairs blue room.
Equipment was set up at 9 p.m. Ghost Tracker Connie advanced into a state of meditation and communicated with a Union soldier that apparently had met his death or is buried some where on the property, also the strong presence of a woman was felt in the blue room. Orbs was captured in abundance in the blue room near a rocking chair , the hall and staircase area just outside the blue room door by Ghost Tracker Melissa using a Sony dvd camcorder w/super night shot. Ghost Trackers placed audio recorders in several rooms at 1:30 a.m. and left the house unoccupied until approx. 3 a.m. in hopes of obtaining an EVP. Upon returning all recorders were gathered and listened to. On some of the tapes a low voice or whisper was heard but no exact dialog could be established. At one point during the night The Ghost Trackers became unnerved when all being downstairs and hearing loud banging upstairs! Upon investigating it was determine that a swift breeze was causing a window to shake thus creating the banging sound that we heard. As the night progressed and around 5 a.m. when the Ghost Trackers had become exhausted and attempted to get a few hours of much needed sleep in upstairs rooms..........sounds of heavy footsteps were heard walking around on the hardwood floors!
Conclusion: We believe that this bed & breakfast meets all criteria based upon our experiences and knowledge of the paranormal that it is an authentic " haunted house".
